The words have gone – so watch a video

Somedays the words you need to discribe things vanish out of your head. Where do these words go? No matter how hard you try to hunt for those keywords in the dark corners and half-hidden spaces of your memory, they scurry deeper into the blackness – this sounds like the begining of a Gothic fairy tale?

Found this video and liked it – maybe the words will come back after a brainwash.

This Rock Metal Gothic band, created in 2006 by Lucia Ferreira, Steve Tilmant and Stephane Rayot, owes it’s name to a carnivorous plant. Akentra’s music is made up of a strong rhythmic section, sharp guitars sounds and Lucia’s strong feminine voice carrying lyrics tainted with darkness and melancholy. Read more…

Playing at life – Finish The story

This video only took  Garry Smout 30 years to make.

Live footage of Finish the Story at Exeter Art College Feb 1983 mixed with 8 track studio version from 1981/2, some new images, original sequences and ‘lost’ shots – such as the bedroom doorway from the farm (R.I.P) and very early footage of Nicola at farm window — not wanting to play! Even very rare footage of Peter Bright playing guitar live.

This is a glimpse at my past!

Cassette Culture 1989 - 2009 by This WindowThis is probably the most in depth interview about This Window: gravejibes.com (on page 64).

This also includes early pictures of Finish The Story (some never been seen before) and some words of wisdom from Jake Bright (producer, instrumentalist extraordinaire) and a very generous review of ‘Cassette Culture 1989 – 2009?.

1978: I once had a girlfriend called Anne who wore ‘Charlie’ perfume. Every time we came close I sneezed. This was not conducive to a passionate affair. Her ‘big’ permed hair and ‘page three’ figure was always out of reach, until we discovered I was allergic to her bottled smell….later we discovered I was allergic to latex.

Rediscovering the printing process after nearly 40 years has been an interesting process ~ disappointingly modern inks are not as rich in color (earthy colours are very plastic like) and modern water-based inks don’t become part of the surface, they sit on it, which is incredibly frustrating ~ the reason I took up printing in the first place was because of the absorbed flatness of the pigments.

Printing is a process for reproducing text and images, typically with ink on paper using a printing press. It is often carried out as a large-scale industrial process, and is an essential part of publishing and transaction printing.

The development of printing was preceded by the use of cylinder seals in Mesopotamia developed in 3500 B.C., and other related stamp seals. The earliest form of printing was woodblock printing, with existing examples from China dating to before 220 A.D. and Egypt to the fourth century. Later developments in printing include the movable type, first developed by Bi Sheng in China, and the printing press, a more efficient printing process for western languages with their more limited alphabets, developed by Johannes Gutenberg in the fifteenth century.
